1. Create or Sign In to Your Google Search Console
Google Search Console is the free tool Google provides to monitor and manage how your site appears in search results.
Go to Google Search Console.
Sign in with a Google account.
Click Add Property.
Choose Domain (covers your whole domain, including all pages and subdomains) or URL Prefix (specific to a single URL).
Follow the verification instructions—Google will give you a DNS record or HTML file to upload.
💡 Tip: If your site is on Wix, WordPress, or Hostinger, there’s usually a simple place to add this DNS or HTML tag.
2. Submit Your Sitemap
A sitemap is a simple file that lists all your website’s important pages.
Inside Search Console, click Index → Sitemaps.
Enter your sitemap URL (for example: https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml).
Click Submit.
This tells Google to start crawling all your pages right away.
3. Request Indexing for Individual Pages
Sometimes you launch a new page or blog post and want it indexed immediately.
In Search Console, use the URL Inspection Tool (the search bar at the top).
Paste in the exact page URL.
If it says “URL is not on Google,” click Request Indexing.
Google usually crawls the page within a few hours to a couple of days.
4. Double-Check Crawl Settings
Make sure nothing accidentally blocks Google from seeing your site:
In your site’s settings, confirm there’s no “noindex” tag.
Check that your robots.txt file allows Google to crawl your pages.
Most website builders handle this automatically, but it’s worth a quick look.
5. Keep Your Site Healthy
Manual indexing is only part of the equation. To stay indexed and rank well:
Publish high-quality, original content
Make sure your site loads quickly and works on mobile
Fix any errors that show up in Search Console’s Coverage or Page Experience reports
Fresh content and a clean technical setup tell Google your site is active and worth ranking.
Common Questions
How long does manual indexing take?Usually within 24–48 hours, but it can sometimes be even faster.
Do I need to resubmit my sitemap every time? No—Google will keep checking it automatically. Just resubmit if you make big structural changes.
Does manual indexing help me rank higher? It doesn’t directly improve rankings, but it speeds up discovery, which means your new content can start ranking sooner.
Bottom Line
Manually indexing your site isn’t complicated—and it’s the fastest way to get new content noticed. With Google Search Console, you can go from “just launched” to “searchable” in a day, not weeks.
